Learning to Speak Canadian
Just back from a quick trip to Vancouver to meet up with some Apple Resellers at an event Apple hosted on our behalf. First, having been my first trip to Vancouver, I'd like to unreservedly recommend the city to anyone who hasn't made the trip. Both welcoming and picturesque, with majestic downtown views and easily accessible natural beauty. I can't imagine next year's Winter Olympics being anything but a success.
As our first trip north of the border since the recent re-introduction of AccountEdge in Canada, I had no expectations. After the whirlwind two-day tour, I was encouraged, excited and inspired, both by Apple and by the strong network of independently owned/operated Mac stores. For many of these solution-providers, a full-featured, localized Canadian version of AccountEdge (complete with integrated payroll) plugs a gap in their product portfolio that allows them to provide small-to-medium sized businesses with an end-to-end solution.
I use the (buzz)word "solution" because that's what many of these stores/businesses prefer to sell. They provide solutions to businesses, rather than simply selling a box (which they'll gladly do as well). From our perspective, it ensures that small business owners are receiving the personal attention they need in order to appropriately implement and maintain their IT infrastructure. Everybody wins with that approach.
Looking forward to the months and years ahead north of the border.
